The Challenge
When Khidmat Charitable Trust first came to us, their existing website was built on WordPress using a generic, off-the-shelf template that didn't reflect the trust's own identity or the scale of the programs they run. More seriously, the site was unreliable — it would slow down or become unreachable at times, and page loads were often sluggish even when it was up. For a charitable trust that depends on people completing a donation in the moment they feel moved to give, that's a direct, ongoing loss: a slow or unavailable site at the wrong moment means a donor simply leaves, and that donation never happens. The WordPress setup also meant the trust's own staff were dependent on plugin updates and template limitations for even small content changes, making the site harder to keep current than it should have been.
The Solution
Rebuilt the entire website from the ground up on a custom Django application, moving away from the fragile, plugin-dependent WordPress setup entirely
Deployed on a modern, containerized hosting stack (Docker + Nginx) instead of typical shared WordPress hosting, so uptime and speed depend on infrastructure built for reliability, not on plugin compatibility
Designed a clean, custom layout reflecting the trust's actual programs, mission, and scale, rather than a generic template
Integrated the Cashfree payment gateway directly, so donations complete smoothly with webhook-confirmed payment status instead of the redirect failures common with bolted-on WordPress payment plugins
Automated PDF receipt generation and email delivery immediately after a successful donation, with financial-year-based receipt numbering for compliance record-keeping
Gave staff a proper content-managed admin panel so they can update programs, events, and impact data themselves, without depending on a developer or a plugin update

We made the website significantly faster than the old WordPress site
The site is now reliably available, with no more slowdowns or downtime for visitors
The donation flow is smoother end-to-end, from checkout through to the automated receipt email
